  • How to get reusable period products

Initially launched in council-owned facilities, the scheme has expanded to include:

    • Social supermarkets
    • Foodbanks
    • Community and voluntary sector partners

If you live in the Belfast City Council area and are aged 16 or over, you can apply for a free home pack of reusable period products. You can order these free products from the Hey Girl's website (link opens in new window). Orders are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Why choose reusable period products?

    Environmental Impact

    • The UK generates 200,000 tonnes of menstrual product waste each year.
    • Many single-use products contain up to 90 per cent plastic.
    • In Belfast, each household produces nearly 4kg of hygiene waste annually - most of which ends up in landfill.

    Cost savings

Reusable products can significantly reduce the cost of managing periods, which can reach up to £492 per year.
